Rotary-piston machine for driving and controlling appliances or pumpable substances. The rotary-piston machine comprises two cylinders lying one inside the other, the internal chambers of which are divided by movable vanes fixed around the centre axis of the outer cylinder. Due to rotation of one or both cylinders or displacement of the cylinders in relation to one another, cavities of different size and different speeds of rotation of the vanes are produced. By utilising these characteristics the rotary-piston machine can be used as an internal combustion engine, as a pump which is capable of increasing, reducing, switching off or reversing the rate of flow at a constant speed, as a drive motor, which for a constant rate of flow is capable of increasing, reducing or reversing the speed, or as a transmission, which under load and >>non-positively<<, is capable of increasing, reducing or maintaining an input speed. In addition two of the possible applications cited can be combined with one another in one engine.
