The support has a part arranged for receiving and retaining a lower edge of a tool (E). Another part is arranged for supporting the tool in an inclined position above the former part. A selectively variable length connection unit (14) e.g. rod, connects the former part with the latter part. The latter part includes a support column mounted on a base i.e. tripod. The column comprises a support head for supporting the tool. The base is equipped with a locking mechanism to block the connection unit between the two parts with desired length. An independent claim is also included for a method for installing a tool.
