AGENT FOR SUPPRESSING DEGRANULATION OF MASTOCYTE

PURPOSE:To provide the titled suppressing agent containing barbaloin separated from aloe as an active component. CONSTITUTION:The objective agent for suppressing degranulation of mastocyte can be produced by using the compound of formula (barbaloin) as an active component. Barbaloin used as an active component can be produced by concentrating sap of a plant belonging to Aloes genus, Liliaceae family (e.g. leaf of Aloe alborescens) and subjecting the sap to solvent extraction, ion-exchange resin adsorption and adsorption with an adsorbent, or to thin-layer chromatography (TLC) or high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). It can be produced also by chemical synthesis. EFFECT:A component of aloe having anti-inflammatory activity has been alarified and an active site of aloe having anti-inflammatory activity has been determined. The component can be used as an anti-inflammatory agent.
