PURPOSE:A flame-retardant for synthetic resins suitable for housing material of electrical devices, having improved weather resistance, impact resistance, heat resistance, etc., comprising a specific ester derivative of a halogen- containing aromatic diol. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. synthetic resin (e.g., polyethylene resin, etc.) is blended with preferably 10-25pts.wt. ether derivative (preferably reaction product of tetrabromobisphenol A and diglycidyl ether of tetrabromobisphenol A) of a halogen-containing diol shown by the formula I [R1 and R2 are H or group shown by the formula II or III (Y is bromine or chlorine; j is 0-5); X is bromine or chlorine; i is 1-4; m is natural number], having 1,500-20,000, preferably 2,000-10,000 weight-average molecular weight to provide the synthetic resin with flame retardance, etc. The derivative which is pulverized into <=100mum particle diameter is preferably used with respect to dispersibility. |
