PURPOSE:To enable frit-sealing of a getter suppoter at the same time of frit- sealing of a funnel and a panel glass, by temporarily fixing the getter supporter with an adhesive and then applying frit seal. CONSTITUTION:Base 10 of a getter supporter 4 is coated with a nonorganic adhesive 11 leaving some area uncoated along the periphery, before being fixed temporarily at a specified position of a funnel 2 inner surface. After sufficiently drying the adhesive 11, periphery of the base 10 of the getter supporter 4 around the portion coated with the adhesive 11 is coated with frit 3. Then, after coating the inner surface of the funnel 2 with carbon 13, opening edge 14 of the funnel 2 is coated with frit 3, and a getter structure 6 consisting of a getter 8 housed in a getter container 7 is fixed to the spherical tip 5 of the getter supporter 4. A coathode-ray tube structure thus constructed is put into a furnace for firing, to carry out frit-sealing of the funnel 2 and a panel glass 17 and frit- sealing of the getter supporter 4 onto the funnel 2 inner surface simultaneously.
