PURPOSE:To obtain a compound useful as an intermediate for synthesizing a polyamide of fiber grade under a mild condition in a high reaction rate, by reacting acrylonitrile with an isobutylene in the presence of a Lewis catalyst. CONSTITUTION:Acrylonitrile is reacted with an isobutylene shown by the formula I (R<1> is methyl or 3-cyano-propyl) or its derivative in the presence of a Lewis acid catalyst (e.g., MgF2 or TiCl4) in the absence of a solvent or in an inert solvent such as preferably benzene, etc. at 50-350 deg.C, preferably 100-250 deg.C to give the aimed compound shown by the formula III. The amount of the Lewis acid used in the reaction is 0.0001-5mol, preferably 0.001-1mol based on acrylonitrile. |
