Process and plant for treating a fluidised bed. This plant comprises essentially a reactor 1 of overall shape elongate in the horizontal direction and whose bottom part thus permits the horizontal circulation of a fluidised bed from the end 2 of the reactor 1 as far as the other, the end 2 comprising one or more plasma torches 4 above and in line with which are arranged means 6, 7 for feeding pulverulent material, and the other end 3 of the reactor 1 comprising means for discharging the fluidised bed 17. This plant permits, for example, the synthesis, the drying or the roasting of various products. <IMAGE>
