A device for adjusting screws 26 comprises a screw system 1 with drive motor 2, a feed system 4 for screws 26 which are kept in a magazine-like ribbon 6, and two chucks 14, 15, which are movable relative to each other in order to hold the screws 26 during screwing. The chucks 14, 15 can be moved in a guide part 16 at right angles to the screw axis 7. The guide part 16 of the chucks 14, 15 has fixtures 17, which engage in the guide part 16 at right angles to the motional direction of the chucks 14, 15. The chucks 14, 15 are spring-loaded by means of helical springs 18 in the direction of the screw axis 7. The screw 26 is centred throughout the screwing between the chucks 14, 15, so that it is possible to set the screws in a precise position. <IMAGE>
