PURPOSE:To obtain a communication adaptor relieving the load on a CPU and enhancing the general purpose performance by replacing a memory card defined with a communication protocol to/from a card connector and picking up the card to start communication suited to an optional communication protocol. CONSTITUTION:A communication protocol control program used for communication is stored in a ROM built in an IC card 122. Thus, in case of communication, a microprocessor 119 reads a program of the communication protocol from the ROM built in the IC card 122 to apply communication control. In starting communication different in protocol, a proper protocol is selected from the IC card incorporating the ROM is which programs are stored by the prepared various communication protocols and IC cards 122 are replaced to/from the IC connector 121 in the communication adaptor 11 to start communication. Thus, the titled adaptor copes easily with various communication systems to increase the general purpose performance.
