The present invention relates to articles for protection against the rain or the sun and, more specifically, the umbrella or parasol. Comprising four simple pieces, one of which is called <<rib/film>> BF, the invention is composed of two elements: the ribs securely attached to a central collar 5 by means of thinned parts 8, to which assembly is attached a flat and subsequently retractable protective film. This piece BF is able to pass from the open position to the closed position by means of the presence or absence of the blocking slide 9 filling in the space formed by the thinned part 8, thus preventing the ribs from closing up along the handle 1. If the blocking slide 9 is brought back to the base of the handle 2, the thinned space 8 released by its folding makes it possible to bring the ribs into the closed position. <IMAGE>
