PURPOSE:To measure wall thickness of an insulator in the peripheral direction, continuously, by attaching an ultrasonic sensor to an annular rotary ring, making it slide-contact onto the peripheral surface of a connecting part insulator and moving it. CONSTITUTION:When an ultrasonic wave is emitted into an insulator F from an ultrasonic sensor 10, it is reflected in a boundary to a connecting sleeve D of the center part of the insulator F, and by receiving and measuring its reflected wave, wall thickness of the insulator F is measured, a deflected wall rate is calculated by a calculating part 15, and the wall thickness and the deflected wall rate are displayed and recorded by a display part 16. In this way, the wall thickness can be continuously measured in the peripheral direction and the deflected wall rate can be calculated and recorded by rotating an annular rotary ring 7 by measuring the wall thickness, making the ultrasonic sensor 10 slide-contact onto the peripheral surface of the insulator F and moving it.
