PURPOSE:To improve resolution by making position specification pitch (1st pitch) for specifying the position of an original shorter than the pitch (2nd pitch) of a spot light source which controls an image formation area. CONSTITUTION:Partial erasing lamps, i.e. light emitting diode LED elements 50... of an LED array 48 are arranged laterally at specific intervals (2nd pitch). A rotary encoder 106 provided in the case 100 of a mouse 36 is constituted by fixing a slit disk 110 and a rubber roller 116 having part of its peripheral surface projected from the reverse surface of the case 100 to a rotating shaft 108, and the rubber roller 116 is rolled on the original during editing to supply rotations corresponding to the rolling distance to the slit disk 110. Here, input resolution (1st pitch) from the rubber roller 1 is made shorter than the the pitch (2nd pitch) of the LED array 48. Consequently, the editing area is specified in units of the 2nd pitch and the position specification accuracy is improved. |
