PURPOSE:To prevent an optical element from being moved in a housing by previously fixing the optical element in the housing, movably adjusting a coupling position between the optical center of the optical element and an optical fiber and then fixing the housing and an optical receptacle. CONSTITUTION:A washer is previously inserted into an optical element storing hole 11 of the housing 3 with play, the head part 2a of a light receiving element 2 is fixed and then a press-in ring 5 is inserted into an optical element fixing hole 12 of the housing 3 through a cushion ring 6 to integrally fix the optical element 2 on a housing assembling body 1. Thereby, the optical element 2 can be prevented from the damage of its glass window without directly receiving external force at the time of assembling of an optical receptacle 8 or the attachment/detachment of a housing assembling body 1. On the hand, a ferrule 13 is previously inserted into a ferrule guide hole 9 of an optical receptacle 8 so that the tip part of the ferrule 13 is projected into the guide hole 9 and a detector is fitted to the external end part.
