PURPOSE:To decrease widely the color bleeding of a reading image to occur due to the wavelength of an image forming means when an original is read by setting the centroid wavelength of the spectral sensitivity of a trichromatic color separation sensor so as to be close to a wavelength in accordance with respective image forming means. CONSTITUTION:The trichromatic color separation sensor of yellow, green and cyanogen is used, and the centroid wavelength of each spectral sensitivity is set so as to be near 560 n m, near 540 n m and near 500 n m respectively. Since respective centroid wavelengths are mutually close, by setting a special wavelength lambda0 to about 530 n m, the value of a resolution characteristic comes to be sufficiently a large value. As the chrominance components output, R, G and B signal outputs can be obtained by operation and the reader of the color original can be realized in which a color operation capacity and a resolution are both satisfactory.
