The device according to the invention comprises a mechanism arranged on a machine frame automatically transferring the sausages coming from a station situated upstream such as for forming and producing sausages or the like to the linking zones; the said mechanism comprising: starting with a support frame 1 and various support elements associated with the frame 1e, 1f, 1g, 1h, 1i, 1k, 1m, essentially two guide rails 39a, 39b which are superimposed and allow the sliding of the transfer means 48-49 arranged to clamp the ends of the preformed sausages; two lifting rails 28-34 arranged at the end of the guide rails and allowing passage from the upper rail 39a to the lower rail 39b, a transfer means moving in pairs by the appropriate control means in a continuous closed circuit; the said transfer means being involved in the aforementioned cycle on the upper rail under the action of control means; at the end of the upper rail 39a, and facing the lifting rail 34, there being arranged clamps for gripping the ends of the sausages with a view to moving them towards the linking zone. <IMAGE>
