PURPOSE:To permit formation of a smooth and flawless painted surface by roughly working the surface of an Al and Al alloy casting by cutting, then machining the front face thereof to generate an drafting layer and finishing the drafting layer by cutting. CONSTITUTION:After the front face of the Al and Al alloy casting is roughly worked to 1-2mm cutting allowance by cutting, the front face is machined by a press welding roll, etc., to generate the drafting layer. Further, the drafting layer is subjected to finish working by cutting to about 0.3mm depth of cut so that the drafting layer remains by >=0.2mm. As a result, the metallic gloss intrinsic to the Al and Al alloy is maintained even if the front face of the Al and Al alloy casting is subjected to rust preventive painting. The smooth and flawless painted surface is thus formed.
