PURPOSE:To instantaneously connect optical fibers to each other and attain the automa tion of switching connection by forming recessed grooves along the axial direction of the fibers on both the end faces of a molded body fitted to the end face of the fiber and forming fitting bodies to be stuck fast and fitted to/with the grooves of the molded body on both the end parts of an axis matching jig. CONSTITUTION:The molded body 13 is attached to the connection end face of a coated optical fiber 11 and the end faces of the optical fibers are arranged on the leading end part of the molded body 13. The reressed grooves 14, 15 along the axial direction of the fibers 12 are formed on the leading end face of the molded body 13, the axis matching jig 6 is used for the optical connector and the fitting bodies 20, 21 are formed on the upper ends of both the side plates 18, 19 of the jig 16. Fitting parts 221-232 and 223, 233 are formed on both the ends and intermediate parts of the fitting bodies 20, 21 of the jig 16 in the longitudinal direction and respective fitting bodies 20, 21 are supported by respective supporting chips 261-272. The grooves 14, 15 of the molded body 13 are fitted with both the end parts of the jig 16 to connect the mutual fibers instantaneously.
