In a flyer-traversing device in a winding machine for continuously supplied threads, there is the problem of bringing about reliable thread guidance in the stroke reversal regions and of eliminating dynamic influences on the thread. This takes place in that there is provided, in the end regions of the traversing stroke, a positive guidance of the thread, which prevents the latter from leaving the end region of the traversing stroke more quickly than at the speed provided. The positive guidance of the thread is brought about in that the convex guide edge of the flyer supplying the thread is so shaped and the rotary position of the supplying and of the collecting flyer of the cooperating rotors is so designed that the thread is taken over by the collecting flyer only after the stroke reversal.
