The torch contains an insulating outer housing (1) in which a cooled inner housing (2) with a nozzle (7) for feeding an inert gas and a plasma-forming nozzle (3), an electrode unit with a collet for clamping a non-consumable electrode (12), and an electrically non-conductive tube (8) are accommodated. The electrode unit is arranged in the electrically non-conductive tube (8) in such a way that it is adjustable along the torch axis during the wear of the electrode. The collet has a shank (10), in which there are cooling passages (13), and is fitted into a metallic tube (11), to the threaded end of which means are attached in each case for regulating the clamping force of the spring element (9) of the collet and for the adjusting movement of the electrode unit along the torch axis, the said means being partly led out onto the surface of the outer housing (1) via grooves (18 and 19) in the latter. <IMAGE>
