PURPOSE:To obtain an assembly with high reliability by interposing an elastic member between a base and a voice coil motor, giving a resin plate between a support member supporting the voice coil motor in the direction of movement of the positioning means in parallel and the voice coil motor so as to support the voice coil motor. CONSTITUTION:When a magnetic disk 11 driven by a motor is rotated together with a spindle 16 and a positioning command is received from a positioning device, a carriage 13 applies seek operation attended with high speed reciprocating motion commanded by a positioning control circuit. In this case, the base tends to receive a bending moment by a reaction of the voice coil motor proportional to the acceleration of the movement of the carriage, but the voice coil motor is moved smoothly in parallel accurately in the moving direction of the carriage by the buffer action of the elastic member interposed between the support member and the base, and by the resin plate offering smooth excellent sliding thereby reducing the bending vibration of the base attended with the seek operation of the carriage.
