In a device for transferring a support 1 intended to reduce the rate of wear of its guidance component 2, to which are attached the extraction tools 10 of heavy machinery, comprising a mechanism 3 for transferring the support 1 into or against the guidance component 2, the support 1 is connected to the guidance component 2 by driven locking jaws 18 and the driving mechanism of the locking jaws is coupled to the transfer mechanism 3. Preferably the locking jaws are subjected to the nominal locking pressure while the transfer mechanism 3 is turned off and to a pressure below the nominal pressure used for locking while the support 1 is transferred. <IMAGE>
