An imidazopyridine compound of the following formula : <CHEM> wherein R<1> is lower alkynyl, R<2> is lower alkyl, R<3> is lower alkyl, R<4> is amino or a protected amino, R<5> is hydrogen; lower alkyl which may have suitable substituents(s); halogen; nitro; amino; a protected amino; a protected carboxy; or N,N-di(lower)alkylsulfamoyl, and A is lower alkylene, and a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, processes for their preparation and pharmaceutical compositions comprising them in admixture with pharmaceutically acceptable carriers.
