[Class 113 (ii)] A boat or sea-plane float having an elastic framing and rigid keel frame is provided with a stem comprising a helical spring 1 and tension member 5 both of which are anchored at their ends to the gunwale and the keel frame. The stern may be similarly constructed. The resilient frame comprises the gunwale and intermediate stringer 7, together with transverse frames 6 which are run between the layers of planking constituting the keel frame and are woven between the strips of the stringer 7. Gunwale, intermediate stringer and transverse frames are all of flat-steel spring. The ends of the transverse members may be bent over to form resilient supports for the rigid thwarts 9 or independent spring members may be employed for this purpose. |
