A hose clamp comprising a strip (1) has one bracing jaw (5) at one strip end (4) and a second bracing jaw (7) at a distance from the other strip end (6). Formed in the strip-end portion exhibiting the first bracing jaw (5) is a through-passage (8) with an axial edge (9) which can be hooked in behind a hook (10) projecting between the second bracing jaw (7) and the other strip end (6). In order to be able to brace and open the hose clamp in a simple manner under high loading, a single hook (10) is bent off radially at the end of a tongue (12) formed in a strip cutout (11). Formed between the through-passage (8) and the strip end (4) provided with the first clamping jaw (5), on the inner side of said strip end, is a circumferential groove. At least at the groove end adjacent to the through-passage (8), the groove depth is smaller than the radial distance of the radially outer hook end from the inner side of the tongue (12). The groove width (b) corresponds to that (b') of the hook (10). The edge (9) which comes to bear against the hook (10) forms a base line of the through-passage (8). <IMAGE>
