Lubrication ring groove in trunk piston of IC engine - prevents radial oil ring movement before engine assembly

The ring groove has a spring element, which ends radially inwards on the same diameter. In an area next to the top flank of the groove, the groove base is located further radially outwards, than in an area next to the lower flank of the groove. The radius of curvature between top flank and groove base, is smaller than that, with which the lower flank merges into the groove base.
