The closure for the filling openings on tankers etc. comprises a lid pressed against the edge of the opening by a tension device (5). Inside the container opening (2) there are at least three tension levers (9) spread out round the circumference of the lid and movable by the tension device (5) in a substantially radial direction outwards to the edge (10) of the hole. In the tensioned position the levers adjoin the edge (10) of the opening (2) by their outer ends. The levers can be mounted to tilt near their outer end on an abutment (12). USE/ADVANTAGE - Improved sealing action on container lid with lower overall structural height of the closure device and with practically no outside parts which could be accidentally knocked off.
