ACTIVE MATRIX LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY FOR GRAY SCALE AND METHOD OF MAKING THE SAME

PURPOSE: To improve the performance and yield of a product by separating an active matrix array and a control capacitor array between two display glass boards. CONSTITUTION: A thin film transistor(TFT) 15 and a control capacitor 20 are respectively formed on two independent boards 16 and 18, an active matrix array 12 is formed on the board 16 and the control capacitor 20 is formed on the common electrode board 18 respectively. Namely, the active matrix array is separated from the control capacitor array. Thus, since an entire production process and the number of processes are separated between the active matrix board and the common electrode board, the control of the production process is facilitated and a design parameter is optimized.
