PURPOSE:To dissolve uneasy feeling caused by sudden braking or release by performing speed change control in such a way as to down-shift gradually and reset gradually in the case of applying engine brake under running conditions of down-slope acceleration. CONSTITUTION:When acceleration becomes large at the down-slope time with an accelerator released, as well as the down-shift correction quantity from an integrating means 62 is gradually enlarged by the discrimination signals of a down-slope acceleration judging part 61, the target primary pulley rotating speed set by a retrieving part 46 is added for correction by a correcting part 63, and the target speed change ratio computed by a computing part 47 is gradually down-shift controlled to perform engine brake smoothly and effectively in order to secure safety. When the release of the engine brake is then judged by a release judging part 64, the down-shift correction quantity from the integrally means 62 is gradually reduced to effect recovery while preventing vehicle acceleration by sudden up-shift. |
