Method for simultaneous control of the paper curling profile and fiber orientation profile on a paper machine equipped with edge flow channels. In the method, the edge flow amount of the paper machine is controlled based on previously collected running data, the measured curling and fiber orientation profiles or the controllable paper web and adjustment values that prevail in the paper machine during control time by means of a control system that carries out the method. At different adjustment values of the paper machine data are collected and the relation between changes in edge measurements and the changes caused by this in curling and fiber orientation profiles by carrying out test runs with the paper machine in different functional situations. The relation data are recorded in the memory of the computer 6. The control system corrects the curling profile and fiber orientation profile of the web being produced by means of the relation data by controlling the edge flow of the paper machine by means of control valves 3a and 3b. <IMAGE>
