The apparatus comprises a "U"-shaped body (1) having a handle (2), a trigger (3) capable of actuating a rod (6) which bears at one of its ends a sign-holding piece (8) facing one end (9) of the body (1) which has windows (11) for passage of these signs (8) to a stamp (12) immersed in an internal ink reservoir (13). At a first moment, these signs (8) are brought close to the stamp (12) in order to ink them; at a second moment, a part of the animal is interposed between this "U" and the signs (8), already inked, are printed. <IMAGE>
