摘要 PURPOSE:To execute the high speed rewriting without deteriorating the recording sensitivity and the C/N etc. by irradiating with an auxiliary beam whose wavelength is shorter than a recording erasure beam to disconnect the interatomic coupling of a recording material by its irradiation, together with the recording erasure beam. CONSTITUTION:A recording medium 6 is irradiated with an auxiliary beam whose wavelength is shorter than a recording erasure beam and which disconnects the interatomic coupling of a recording material by its radiation together with the recording erasure beam. That is, while rotating a recording medium 6, the recording erasure beam lambda1 is converged to the convergent surface of a recording material layer 63. Also, with regard to the auxiliary beam lambda2, as well, by shifting a little its convergent position from the convergent surface of the recording material layer 63, and also, irradiating the rear area in the optical scanning direction (a) of the recording erasure beam lambda1 therewith, the recording material layer 63 being in a crystalline state or an amorphous state is set to an amorphous state and write of information is executed. Subsequently, the recording erasure laser beam lambda1 is converged, and also, the recording medium 6 is irradiated with the auxiliary beam lambda2 under the same condition. In such a way, the high speed rewriting being excellent in its erasure rate can be executed.
