Method and system for encryption

Authenticating and validating messages where a data store storing one or more digital fingerprints is associated with user imaging devices such as a digital camera or webcam where the digital fingerprints maybe the PRNU noise of the camera. During a transaction process a relying party such as a vendor or bank requests authentication of a transaction. An authentication challenge is generated in the form of a message and is displayed on a transaction device such as a PC or tablet for the user to view and check before completing the transaction. If the user is satisfied with the message the imaging device is used to capture an image of the transaction message and the image is sent to a trusted party which determines that the image is received form a registered image device and contains the fingerprint associated with that device. The image is checked to see if it is the same as that expected by the relying party by for instance comparing the image with the original message using OCR techniques, if it is then the transaction maybe completed.
