The apparatus for uniformly maintaining the thickness of a space between lower and upper glass substrates (8,8'), the space including a liquid crystal device, comprises a housing (3) including a bellows (2) on the center of a main body (1), a coupler (4) connected to the bellows (2) and positioned at the upper part of the housing (3). In the main body (1), there are a sub-base (5) connected to the bellows through a lower shaft (2'), a silicon rubber (6), a metallic panel (7), the upper glass substrate (8), a silicon film (9), a sealing material (10), a silicon film (9') and the lower glass substrate (8').
