The method for the production of a macromolecular polyester resin is characterized by making a polyester prepolymer pellet contg. bubbles by feeding an inert gas i.e. nitrogen argon or helium into the molten polymer in the polycondensation process, making a popcorn-like prepolymer pellet by subjecting the preformed pellet to a temp.-raise and vacuum, and solid phase polymerizing it. The prepolymer is pref. polyethylene terephthalate (PET) contg. at least 80 mol.% of ethylene terephthalate. The polyester resin is used in the mfr. of a tire cord, dishes for a microwave oven and a monofilament for a canvas.
