The seating for a proximity sensor comprises a box (1) with one surface (3) being the sensitive side of the sensor, and several other plane surfaces allowing the box to be positioned in various ways. The box may, for example, be a five-sided right prism, with one of the four sides abutting a bracket (9) which stands up from the base plate (8) to which the box is attached. A single retaining bolt (10) passes through an aperture in the top of the prism, and is fastened to the base plate (8), thus holding the box in one of the available positions. ADVANTAGE - Box may hold proximity sensor rigidly in one of a number of possible positions.
