An effective systematic control for possible residual concentrations of sulfonamides in carcasses is made possible by an automated analysis method in which the possible presence of various sulfonamides is determined without preliminary separation of same by using a mass spectrometric method, involving a scanning of the ionised sulfonamides, a fragmentation of these and selection passage of fragment ions with a particular ratio between molecular weight and charge to produce signal values which, after being added to previous and subsequent results from the same sample, are compared to a previously determined model and used to determine whether there is an unacceptable content of sulfonamides. <IMAGE>
