A PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF DIALKYL PYRIMIDYLPHOSPHATES O,O-dialkyl pyrimidylphosphates are made by reacting an O,Odialkyl phosphorohalothioate with a 5-hydroxypyrimidine in the presence of a quaternary ammonium phase transfer catalyst, an organic solvent and an alkali metal hydroxide at a pH of from about 8 to about 12 at a temperature of up to about 70.degree.C. The O,O-dialkyl pyrimidylphosphates which are produced in high yield are particularly useful as pesticides and insecticides.
