The container comprises a rigid structure, e.g. in the shape of a tray (1) made from cardboard or similar material, having a base ((2) and side walls (3, 4), and a supple envelope (6) which encloses it and is of a size which allows it to follow, at least partially, the tray's internal contours. The supple envelope is made in the form of a bag sealed along all its edges, and is of a material which is impermeable to liquids and permeable to gases and especially air, such as polyethylene or polypropylene. It has an aperture to allow for air between the cover and tray to be expelled, and it can incorporate a coolant.
