<p>The speed detection method involves transmitting two FM pulses. The pulses are modulated w.r.t linear and continuous functions, one being a rising function and the other a decreasing one. The pulses are received by an antenna (4a) after reflection from a moving target (2). The reflected pulses are processed to reduce their duration and increase their amplitude. The pulses are then used to generate a sum signal and a difference signal. The difference signal is divided by the maximum value of the sum signal and the result is derived. The derivative is proportional to the target speed which is thus obtained. A signal processor (5) is used to analyse the reflected pulses. The processor includes correlators (14,15), an adder (16), a subtractor (19) and a processing unit (22).</p> |
