Diaminoethylene derivatives of the formula: wherein R<1> is a heterocyclic group which may be substituted, R<2>, R<3> and R<4> are a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group which may be substituted or R<3> and R<4> are combined to form a cyclic amino group together with the adjacent nitrogen atom; R<5> is hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group or heterocyclic group which may be substituted; X is an electron attractive group; Y is a hydroxyl or substituted hydroxyl group, amino or substituted amino group or mercapto or substituted mercapto group; n is 0 or 1; or their salts, which are useful as insecticides.
