A process for producing irregular-shaped polymer particles, comprising carrying out reverse phase suspension polymerization of a water-soluble polymerizable monomer in a hydrophobic organic solvent inert to the polymerization in the presence of a water-soluble radical polymerization initiator, the process being characterized in that the reverse phase suspension polymerization is carried out in the presence of a surface active agent having an HLB of 13 or more, exclusive of a glycoside compound having a chemical structure in which a hydrogen atom of a hemi-acetal bond is substituted for a hydrophobic group and a gluconamide compound, as a dispersant, while gradually feeding an aqueous solution of the water-soluble polymerizable monomer to the hydrophobic organic solvent under reflux.
|
