SUPPORTING DEVICE FOR AN ELECTRICAL BOX

A device for supporting an electrical box on a ceiling beam or the like is provided, where the electrical box has a back wall and peripheral side wall extending therefrom forming an open front chamber for receiving a fixture. The supporting device comprises at least one strap for transferring a portion of the weight of the fixture to the ceiling beam. The strap has a first end for receiving at least one fastener to secure the strap to the ceiling beam, an opposed second end for securing the strap to the electrical box, and anintermediate portion inclined to the back wall of the electrical box when the first end of the strap and a mounting segment of the peripheral side wall are secured to the ceiling beam.
