<p>Car wheel consisting of a tyre and a totally flexible tube (6) which is at least partially filled with sound absorbing material, both carried on a rim (1). A recessed well (2) in the rim receives the rubber tube. This tube occupies a substantial fraction of the tyre's internal free volume, esp. up to a third of it, but performs no part in the function of the tyre inner wall when travelling. The sound absorbent filling is a loose material e.g. foam flakes or foam crumb, cotton wadding, wool, foamed rubber, or similar.</p> |
