The music stand is shaped like a box (4) when not in use. After the two front sheets (2,3) have been unfolded, supporting elements (5), joined with hinges (6) to the front of the upper edges of both sides of the box (4), are guided diagonally to the upper front sheet (2) where they are fixed to L-shaped holding elements (9) by inserting bolts (8) into matching holes. A folder (12) containing additional music sheets can be hung between the supporting elements (5) by inserting hooks (15) attached to the folder (12) into bores (11) positioned at the support elements (5).
