PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition having a high fire retardance using a non-halogen fire retardant, and to provide a non-halogen fire retardant which imparts a high fire retardance to thermoplastic resins. SOLUTION: A fire-retardant resin composition is prepared by mixing a thermoplastic resin (A), a furfural-phenol resin (B) and a phosphorus compound (C). A fire retardant for thermoplastic resins comprises a furfural-phenol resin (B) and a phosphorus compound (C). A fire retardant auxiliary comprises a furfural-phenol resin (B).
