PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for forming a color filter of a flat cathode ray tube is provided to reduce a cost for manufacturing a cathode ray tube by forming a color filter on a flat cathode ray tube. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus and a method for forming a color filter of a flat cathode ray tube comprises: a panel glass(101); a plurality of injection devices(104); a light source; a multitude of light sensors(106); and a controller(107). The panel glass is formed by a multitude of light absorption materials. The injection devices injects the ink for tree colors flier(103R,103G,103B). The light source radiates a light from a lower portion of the panel glass to an upper portion of the panel glass. The light sensors identify the light from the light source and outputs a light sense signal. The controller receives the light sense signal and outputs an injection signal.
