PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the responsiveness of the operation to make changeover control of the temperature of a cooling water in an engine in accordance with the operating condition of the engine. SOLUTION: The operating condition of an engine is divided into the A-, B-, and C-region, wherein the A-region exhibits a high load condition while the B-region shows a low load condition, and the C-region gives the idling condition. The control target temp. in each engine operating condition is set to 80 deg., 110 deg., and 95 deg.C for the A-, B-, and C-region, respectively. Therefore, it is possible to perform the temp. control processing for the cooling water in the engine adaptabel according to each engine operating condition.
