PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an artificial rime generator for generating rime evenly on the entire surface of an object to be rimed, i.e. a tree, and reproducing beautiful rime similar to natural one. SOLUTION: An air cooler 4, a mist generator 9 and an object 3 to be rimed, e.g. a tree, are disposed in a cooling chamber 2 surrounded by a heat insulating wall 1. The air cooler 4 cools the inside of the cooling chamber at a required temperature below freezing point and the object is rimed with mist generated from the mist generator 9. In such an artificial rime generator, a plurality of air nozzle groups 15A, 15B,..., 15F each having a large number of air flow generators, i.e., air nozzles, are arranged around the object 3. Air pipes 16a, 16b,..., 16f for supplying compressed air to respective nozzle groups 15A, 15B,..., 15F are provided, in the way thereof, with on/off valves 17a, 17b,..., 17f which are opened/closed in required order to vary the direction of air flow around the object. The air flow generators are arranged above and below, to the left and right and in front and rear of the object.
