PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long-sized light source device that uniformly emits a light in a lengthwise direction. SOLUTION: Two non-electrode rare gas arc tubes 11, 12 are placed on a line in this light source device 8, and power application electrodes at the outside of the respective arc tubes are connected respectively to leads 13, 14. Furthermore, no lead wire is connected to the other ends of the arc tubes that oppose to each other, both the ends are placed at an interval of 1-40 mm in air or 1-30 mm interleaving an insulator in this interval on a line.
