PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a socket for an electrical component relatively easy in molding, enabling electrical components to be simply positioned thereon, and capable of preventing contact failures, flaws to terminals, and the like. SOLUTION: An IC socket 11 as 'a socket for an electrical component' has a rest part 19a provided on an upper plate 19 of a socket body 13 for resting an IC package as 'an electrical component' thereon, a plurality of downwardly projecting solder balls as 'terminals' disposed at fixed intervals on the IC package, and a plurality of contact pins disposed on the socket body 13 and capable of making contact with and parting from the solder balls. Projections 19f as 'positioning parts' for positioning at least two solder balls distanced from each other by a plurality of times the interval on the IC package are formed on the rest part 19a of the socket body 13.
